From: SCVSDA Jubilee To: jubilee-update@scvsda.org Date: Sun, 9 Oct 2005 10:41:02 -0700 Subject: Jubilee Update - some details The 49th Jubilee is next weekend! Here are some practical details we want to be sure you know about. PARKING Parking at the Fairgrounds is included for all Jubilee participants. Enter through GATE D, from Monterey Road. If you are approaching the Fairgounds on Tully Road westbound, from US101, turn left at the first light just after the main Fairgrounds entrance -- this will be Old Tully Road. Turn left again on Monterey Road. If you are approaching the Fairgrounds eastbound on Curtner from CA87, turn right on Monterey Road (before you get to the Fairgrounds). Once you are on Monterey Road, Gate D will be on your left. For more information, see the MAPS at: http://www.scvsda.org/jubilee-maps.html FOOD Our barbeque will be served at 5pm on Saturday in the Pavilion building. If you haven't signed up for this yet, you can still do so through our online registration system (http://www.scvsda.org/jubilee-form.html). A concession stand, offering burgers, soft drinks, etc. will be open in the Pavilion building Friday evening 7-10pm, Saturday 10am-4pm and 6-10pm, and Sunday 11am-6pm. A list of some local restaurants will be available at the registration desk. AFTER-PARTIES This year we have scheduled two after-parties, both open to all Jubilee participants. The after-party on Friday night will feature "Spooky Singing Calls" called by a variety of local callers. The after-party on Saturday night is being sponsored by El Camino Reelers and will again feature ice cream along with the calling of Neil Heather. Both will start at 11pm and be held in the Fiesta building. WHAT TO WEAR? As you know, the theme of this Jubilee is Halloween, so we'd love to see people in costumes or other Halloween-themed outfits for the opening sessions on Friday evening and to go with our "spooky singing calls" at the after-party. Saturday evening, with the Grand March, is the traditional time to wear your "club outfits" or other fancy clothes. Note, however, that these are only suggestions and not required for participating in any Jubilee activities. CLUB BANNERS Speaking of the Grand March, we invite all dancers to participate, marching with their clubs with a sign with their club name. We will provide signs for all clubs for which people have indicated membership on their registration form. We'd also like to be able to hang your CLUB BANNER on the wall in the dance hall. This applies to SCVSDA and non-SCVSDA clubs alike, as long as you have dancers participating in Jubilee. But in order to accomodate our setup schedule, we need to have these banners by WEDNESDAY (13 October). Please arrange to get your club banner to one of the following people: Jim Davis, Joe Dehn, Mary Gingell, or Kindra van Spyk. If you don't know any of these people or don't expect to see any of them by Wednesday, please send us a note at jubilee@scvsda.org so we can make other arrangements. DIEHARD DANCE Yes, we plan to keep dancing through Sunday evening! We have scheduled a multi-level dance for 6:30-9:30pm. This dance is being sponsored by Star Eights, and will include Newer Dancer, Plus, Advanced, and Challenge tips. Remember -- dancing starts at 7:00pm on Friday! The registration desk and shopping area will open at 6:00pm on Friday. See you then! == Jubilee Update is a service of the Santa Clara Valley Square Dancers Association.
