From: SCVSDA Jubilee To: jubilee-update@scvsda.org Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2010 11:05:27 -0700 Subject: Jubilee 2010 is October 8-10 -- Register now There is a lot of recent news about Jubilee 2010, coming up sooner than you think on the weekend of October 8-10, and the Jubilee Committee would like to take this chance to update you on what we have planned. Callers & Cuers --------------- As you already know, Jubilee 2010 will be headlined by four Featured Callers: Michael Kellogg, calling Plus through C-3A Charlie Robertson, calling Plus through C-1 Nasser Shukayr, calling Plus and Advanced Eric Henerlau, calling Plus through C-1, -AND- serving as Jubilee MC and Program Chair Jubilee also has commitments from 8 of the SCVSDA Top Ten Callers: Bob Elling Keith Ferguson Harold Fleeman Harlan Kerr Jim Osborne Rich Reel Roger Smith Vicki Woods (Rob French, unfortunately, is unavailable due to a conflict with his day job, and Eric Henerlau is serving as a Featured Caller, so we don't double count him here.) In addition, Jubilee 2010 has secured the services of Special Guest Caller Richard Tuck, who will be calling C-2, C-3A, and possibly C-1 on Saturday. The Jubilee cuer staff is headed up by the team of Sue & Phil Harris, and includes other members of the Northern California Round Dance Teachers Association. Together, this team will offer Rounds teaches on Saturday morning and will cue double rounds in the Plus and Advanced Halls on Friday and Saturday evenings. Program ------- The details of the 2010 Jubilee Program are still in the works, being designed by Program Chair Eric Henerlau, Assistant Program Chair Gary Hinze, and, of course, General Chair Gary Evans. But the overall outline of a Tentative Program is ready, and you can download it from the Jubilee website, at http://www.scvsda.org/jubilee-program.pdf The highlights of this Program are: *full-time Plus dancing* from Friday evening through midday Sunday, in a large hall with wood floors (except Saturday morning) *almost full-time Advanced dancing* in a second large hall *C-1 Challenge dancing* Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, and part of Sunday morning, in a smaller Challenge Hall *C-2 and C-3A Challenge dancing* Saturday morning and part of Sunday morning in the same Challenge Hall *Rounds teaches* Saturday morning In addition, there will be a fourth, Specialty Hall, but the details of its sessions are still under development. Location -------- Jubilee 2010 is at a new location for Jubilees, but one that will be familiar to old-time square dancers, and now to anyone who danced at this spring's Circus Circus anniversary celebration by Rockin' Jokers. It is Gunderson High School in San Jose. It's a nice facility, located conveniently to Highway 85. It provides us with two large and two smaller halls, ample free parking, and facilities for "dry" (no services) RV camping. Other Amenities --------------- In addition to dancing at Jubilee 2010, you will be able to enjoy: Saturday evening dinner by The BBQ Connection. The move to Gunderson lets Jubilee 2010 bring back this old tradition, offering Tri-tip, Chicken, and (advance orders only) Vegetarian Lasagna, for $17.00 per person. Shopping at Jubilee 2010 vendors, including Square D Fashions and Cookie Lee Jewelry. Saturday evening Welcoming Ceremonies, including the traditional flag ceremony and another special tribute. Pricing ------- The cost of a ribbon for the full weekend is only $35 during the pre-registration period, through September 30. Youth pricing is only $20 for the full weekend. In addition, Jubilee 2010 is now offering pricing for individual sessions: Friday evening @ $12 Saturday day + evening @ $23 Saturday evening only @ $15 Sunday morning @ $12 Registering for Jubilee ----------------------- If you have already registered for Jubilee 2010, you can expect to get your ribbons in the mail (or possibly in-person) shortly.
