Opportunities for Newer Dancers

This year's Jubilee includes a variety of sessions for newer dancers. Whether you are currently a student in a class or a complete beginner -- or somebody who wants to introduce a friend or neighbor to square dancing -- Jubilee has something for you!

Everyone is welcome at our "Introduction to Square Dancing" on Friday evening. Come to this session to find out what square dancing is like, or bring your friends. No experience necessary -- and it's FREE. Kids and teens who attend this session will want to stay for the Youth Dance which will include some tips that they can do.

For beginners who would like to learn more, we are having an all-day "Blast Class" on Sunday. This class will cover many more calls than the Intro session. The cost for this class is $8.

Dancers in May classes will be able to dance during the Mainstream hour at noon on Saturday, and in the "all-skate" tips right after the Grand March and at the end of the regular session on Saturday evening.

For people in May classes who are inclined to a bit of adventure, there are three special sessions that may be of interest:

  • Introduction to Hexagons
  • Introduction to Challenge Concepts
  • Golden Oldies
You'll be learning something new in each of these sessions, but it won't be the usual calls you learn in a regular class, and you don't need to know anything beyond Mainstream to participate!

The final session of the weekend will be the "DieHard Dance". This will include tips at a variety of levels, including some that will be suitable for May class members and even new people if they have taken the Blast Class.
