Come on down to the 51st Annual Jubilee for a fun-filled weekend of dancing
and activities on October 12th, 13th and 14th, 2007 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose. As if dancing to the fabulous calling of the
featured callers, Barry Clasper, Jay Klassen, and Andy Shore, as well as SCVSDA Top Ten callers, wasn't
enough, we are also planning activities specifically with youth dancers in mind.
We are planning a special Youth Dance on Friday evening,
a Youth Callers session on Saturday afternoon, a "glow in the dark" session Saturday evening, as well as a "Psycho Squares" fun dancing contest on Sunday afternoon. In addition, we plan to have other dangle dances during the weekend.
Of course youth are also invited to participate in all dance programs throughout Jubilee. In
addition to the Plus, Advanced, and Challenge programs, Marlene and Leo Humphreys as well as local cuers will be cueing Rounds. Never had a chance to try round dancing? We've added an Intro to Rounds this year just for you. There will also be an Intro to Clogging session.
Do you know a young person who is learning to be a caller? We plan to again have a
session just for them -- and for anyone who wants to have the opportunity to dance to them!
Please let us know if you think you might be interested in calling during this session.
And young dancers are invited to bring their friends and family (of any age) to the special
introductory program on Friday evening. This will be a great opportunity to show people
what square dancing is all about -- and if they like it, there will still be
time for them to join a fall beginner class! Note also that the Friday evening Youth Dance is scheduled to immediately follow this intro session and will include some tips at the intro level -- so you can bring your friends and dance with them throughout the whole evening!
And for beginners who want more, we'll be having a "blast"-style class on Sunday. Have friends who have trouble fitting a traditional class into their
schedules? Bring them on Sunday for a fast introduction to enough calls to get them going! (And if there is sufficient interest, follow-on sessions will be scheduled to teach more calls.)
Dancing starts Friday night at 7 p.m. and goes
through Sunday evening.
So please join us at this 51st Annual Jubilee!
